The school鈥檚 major focus is on public interest law, but it has 鈥渁 high number of specialized programs and great faculty that allow for students to get a great education in their area of interest,鈥� and 鈥渋s very supportive of students who want to pursue non-Big Law careers.鈥�
The classroom experience is 鈥渧ery collaborative,鈥� and members of the 鈥渆mpowered student body鈥� are supportive of one another all hours of the day. Students do worry that the University of Oregon (and law schools in general) are 鈥渘ot concerned enough about practical lawyering skills,鈥� and wish that the administration could hurry along the process for creating even more clinics. 鈥淚n order for the legal job market to weather this ongoing crisis, law schools must take swift measures to make law schools more affordable, practical, and efficient,鈥� says one. Top programs and centers such as the Appropriate Dispute Resolution Center, the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, and the Center for Law and Entrepreneurship鈥檚 Small Business Clinic (which assists small and micro-businesses) help to offset this need and add to the school鈥檚 reputation.

Oregon is 鈥渁 pretty white state,鈥� so 鈥渨hile the administration does a lot of outreach to attract minority students, the overall population is really white.鈥� The school and students may tend towards younger and liberal, but 鈥渢here is a healthy dose of differing opinions and political backgrounds.鈥� The 鈥渢ech-savvy鈥� school 鈥渕akes most students feel welcome in what is a very stressful environment:鈥� 鈥淓veryone is very friendly,鈥� the law school 鈥渉as a great vibe,鈥� the building is 鈥渁mazing,鈥� and the library is 鈥済reat.鈥� The city of Eugene itself is 鈥済enerally a pretty great place to live,鈥� and students also get 鈥渇ree tickets to Ducks football,鈥� which helps relax the soul and bolster school spirit.
鈥淪tudent groups are very active on campus,鈥� and this social bunch take advantage whenever they can find the time. The 鈥済eographically breathtaking location鈥� provides 鈥渂iking trails, hills to climb, [and]outdoor activities galore,鈥� which is par for the course of any Oregonian (less than half of the student body is an Oregon resident when they enroll).
