Founded in 1872, Boston University's School of Law offers a rigorous curriculum, 鈥渁 broad range of course offerings,鈥� and more than 20 clinics, externships, and semester-in-practice placements. To bring practice to the classroom, the school employs simulation courses, wherein legal tasks that are required to effectively represent a client in specific types of disputes or transactions are performed. All first-years also take part in a one-week program called Lawyering Lab, in which they 鈥済ain hands-on transactional skills that include client counseling, negotiation, and contract drafting.鈥�

The faculty at BU Law are 鈥渨orld-class, but still focused on the student.鈥� Attendees assure that 鈥渞esearch or conferences are never put above students' needs,鈥� and professors have 鈥渄iversity in experience, area of expertise, and research.鈥� They are 鈥渜uite approachable and willing to answer questions regardless of the complexity.鈥� Everyone also gets the 鈥渁dded benefit of [the professors] truly caring for their students and wanting to put in the time with students to ensure understanding.鈥� While they have 鈥渉igh expectations for us 鈥�, they feel manageable.鈥� Additionally, 鈥渢he administration genuinely cares about us as students鈥� and 鈥渋s very responsive to student concerns.鈥� Some say that BU Law 鈥渋s more oriented towards Big Law, but there is a tight-knit public interest community鈥� too, and 鈥渢he school has unbelievably strong ties to the firms in Boston.鈥� That means there are plenty of 鈥渙pportunities to network with members of the Boston legal community,鈥� and 200 employers annually interview students both onand off-campus. The library staff are 鈥渋ncredible resources and very willing to help students out.鈥� Plus, there are 鈥渁 lot of library resources that make accessing anything you may need or want a breeze.鈥�

鈥淩elations amongst students are great鈥� at BU Law. And 鈥渁lthough there are many differing viewpoints and ideologies within the student body,鈥� everyone at the school does 鈥渁 great job of creating an environment in which every student can be heard.鈥� So, while the 鈥渕ajority of students and professors are very liberal and progressive, opinions leaning in the other direction are welcomed and appreciated.鈥� As one student shares, 鈥淚t was impressive and pleasantly surprising to discover the degree to which our upperclassmen were willing to help us out.鈥� They also describe this as 鈥渁 lively learning community in which members 鈥� consistently push each other鈥濃�攊n a good way. This encouragement extends beyond academics, with the 鈥済enerally quite friendly鈥� students welcoming their classmates to participate in 鈥渁 wide array of social events and clubs.鈥� And for those who like to find unstructured entertainment, 鈥淏oston is a great city with lots of fun things to do,鈥� and students frequently 鈥渉ang out together outside the classroom.鈥� BU Law 鈥渉as state-of-the-art facilities for its students,鈥� and while the entire building is a tower, the school does 鈥渁 great job of placing classrooms together to minimize the amount of distance students have to walk to get from one room to another.鈥�
