Offering a 鈥済reat support system,鈥 鈥済reat research facilities鈥 and 鈥済ood opportunities,鈥 New York Law School is the total package. Students love that the institution manages to capitalize on its primo downtown location, right 鈥渂y all of the courthouses.鈥 In fact, 鈥渕any classes will take field trips to relevant courthouses so that we can sit in on cases being heard and meet judges.鈥 Therefore, it is not surprising to learn that NYLS also places an 鈥渆mphasis...on practical work鈥 and 鈥渆xperiential learning.鈥 Another bonus of attending New York Law School? 鈥淭he library offers many classes and workshops on how to improve legal research skills.鈥 Hence, NYLS grads are prepared to hit the ground running once they enter the workforce.

When it comes to the faculty, students happily declare that their 鈥減rofessors are incredible and come from some of the best law firms, names in government and law schools to provide us with [a] quality education...and lessons that will last a lifetime.鈥 What鈥檚 more, they excel at fostering 鈥渆ngaging and insightful鈥 class discussions. NYLS professors are also 鈥渧ery accessible鈥 and 鈥渧ery invested鈥 in their students. As one incredulous 3L shares, 鈥淭hey often [stay] after class with us...to further explain/clarify topics...I even had a professor from my first year call me personally to check in on how my second year went.鈥 Moreover, 鈥渢he faculty as a whole is extremely well-connected鈥 and does an admirable job helping students with their 鈥渃areer planning.鈥

Of course, many people also turn to the 鈥減rofessional development office, which helps connect students [with] numerous scholarships, fellowships [and] intern and externship opportunities [throughout the]...year.鈥 It also 鈥渨orks closely with students in preparing resumes and applying for jobs.鈥 And the office frequently 鈥減oint[s people] in the direction of networking events that would be beneficial for [their] projected career paths.鈥

Students rave about New York Law School鈥檚 campus as well. To begin with, 鈥渢he classrooms are all very modern and clean, and kept in the best shape possible.鈥 They鈥檙e also equipped with 鈥渙utstanding...technology.鈥 For example, each room 鈥渙ffer[s] class-capture...an invaluable resource [used] for reviewing previous classes for both notes and lecture discussions.鈥 Further, there are 鈥減lenty of study rooms equipped for collaborative group-study, and comfy & quiet study nooks.鈥 Despite all that, according to this student, 鈥渢he ease with which someone may charge their devices鈥 is perhaps the NYLS鈥 best facets.

Campus Life

Students Say

NYLS has a 鈥渇airly small population so students get a chance to know each other pretty quickly.鈥 Nevertheless, during the first year, everyone is 鈥渄ivided into sections.鈥 And at times, it can 鈥渇eel [as though] those are the only [people] you鈥檒l know.鈥 Fortunately, students assure us that once your second year starts and you have the ability to pick your own classes, it becomes 鈥渆asy to [meet] the entire student body.鈥 No matter where you land, you鈥檙e bound to encounter classmates who are 鈥渕ore congenial than competitive.鈥 After all, NYLS students 鈥渓ook to build each other up rather than tear each other down.鈥 For example, if someone 鈥渒nows of a networking opportunity, [he/she] won鈥檛 hesitate to invite others along.鈥 Or, as this student rhapsodizes, 鈥淲hat I love about NYLS is how collaborative it is. There is an undeniably strong sense of community and the competitiveness of law school and 鈥榞etting the As鈥 doesn鈥檛 get in the way of that.鈥 You鈥檙e also likely to find a 鈥渇airly broad spectrum of political and social views鈥 represented. And, for the most part, students are 鈥済enerally tolerant and respectful鈥 of differing viewpoints. Finally, they appreciate that 鈥渢here are lots of clubs and activities to join.鈥
