The 鈥渧ery inexpensive鈥� Louisiana State University Law Center boasts 鈥渢he highest bar-passage rate in the state鈥� pretty much every year and a unique program where graduates may receive both a JD and optional Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law, which becomes a second degree. Not all faculty members are fabulous, though. 鈥淟SU has some of the best,鈥� advises a 2L, 鈥渂ut a couple have to be the worst.鈥� Outside of class, most faculty members are 鈥渕ore than willing to talk to students.鈥� 鈥淭hey are all accessible if you try a little bit.鈥� A few students tell us that the administration 鈥渆mphasizes bureaucracy,鈥� but the overwhelming sentiment here is that top brass 鈥渢ruly works for the students鈥� and is 鈥渞emarkably responsive to the student body.鈥�
LSU Law offers 鈥渁n abundance of opportunities to be involved鈥� in journals and advocacy programs. There are clinical programs in immigration law, family law, mediation, homeless advocacy, parole reentry, and juvenile representation. 鈥淎 well-connected externship program places secondand third-year students with justices and judges in the Louisiana Supreme Court and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, among others,鈥� adds a 3L. A study abroad program in Lyon, France, is also popular. Over 150 employers recruit here each year, but opinion regarding LSU Law鈥檚 ability to help students find jobs is split. Critics tell us that the Career Services office displays 鈥渃allous indifference toward students who are not in the top five to ten percent of the class.鈥� Other students say that Career Services is 鈥渋n touch with you from the beginning鈥� and 鈥済oes the extra mile to help students and find opportunity for them.鈥� 鈥淭his school does everything it possibly can to ensure that you pass the bar and get a job,鈥� beams a confident 1L.

Everyone has the opportunity to be an individual.鈥� 鈥淲e have gunners just like every law school,鈥� admits a 1L. For the most part, though, there is only 鈥渁 mild dose鈥� of competition. 鈥淭here really isn鈥檛 a lot of the cutthroat behavior.鈥� Students frequently 鈥渟hare outlines and help each other learn the law.鈥�
鈥淪ocial life at LSU Law is great from the library to the tailgate.鈥� This school is 鈥渋n the middle of Cajun country鈥攇reat food, one of the best football teams in the nation, and good Southern people.鈥� 鈥淟SU is in the greatest location a student could ask for,鈥� gloats a 1L. 鈥淏aton Rouge is an amazing city, and the Law Center is located in the heart of one of the most vibrant undergraduate campuses in the nation.鈥� 鈥淭here are many social programs running throughout the semester so that you get to know your classmates personally and you aren鈥檛 just doing law school 24/7.鈥� 鈥淭here are parties all the time.鈥� 鈥淭here are free drinks nearly every weekend.鈥� 鈥淚ntramural tournaments鈥� are pretty popular, too. 鈥淪tudents strap on pads and play a charity football game once a year,鈥� just for instance, complete with tackling.
