In terms of faculty, administration, and other on-campus support, students feel that GMU鈥檚 鈥渁dministration is vested in student outcomes鈥 and that 鈥渢he staff is unbelievably open to outside discussion and help providing high government contacts and networking.鈥 The university鈥檚 ten minutes away from Washington, D.C., provides a major asset to job-seeking graduates 鈥渨ith ready access to fabulous internships and other educational opportunities at a public school price.鈥 This proximity also creates a culture of working lawyers amongst its faculty: 鈥渕ost of the professors aren鈥檛 just professors. They鈥檙e also practicing attorneys or policy specialists who have major influences on their respective fields, and on the development of those fields.鈥 Students find the school鈥檚 facilities 鈥渆xtremely up to date鈥 and 鈥渙utstanding,鈥 and extol the librarians: 鈥淭he librarians are perhaps the most wonderful people on campus.鈥 There are some complaints about the law school鈥檚 relationship to the rest of the university: students claim 鈥渢he law school is like the estranged step-child to the main campus,鈥 that they 鈥渃ould use better amenities,鈥 and that they sometimes 鈥渇eel like nothing more than a cash cow to the main campus in Fairfax鈥 due to rising tuition prices in the last few years. That said, Virginia locals appreciate the 鈥渋n-state tuition rate,鈥 which is 鈥渞elatively cheap.鈥

GMU hardly conveys that liberals need not apply, but prospective students are well-advised to know that 鈥渢he school has a noticeable libertarian (not necessarily conservative) bias, but the faculty and students are accepting of other viewpoints and willing to engage in respectful debate.鈥 Some attest that 鈥渢here is no ideological diversity鈥 and that the school could use 鈥渕ore diversity of viewpoints on the faculty,鈥 but many others value the school鈥檚 鈥渃onservative perspective deriving from its focus on law and economics.鈥 In general, though, GMU鈥檚 law students feel 鈥渃amaraderie鈥 in their peer community, and like that GMU is 鈥渘ot a cutthroat environment.鈥
