Students praise Emory鈥檚 externship program, which 鈥済ives you lots of options鈥� in these specialized areas within the Atlanta legal community and is 鈥渆asily the best part about Emory.鈥� For students 鈥渋nterested in the private sector, the opportunity to get experience working in-house at places like Coca-Cola, The Home Depot, and GE, to name a few, is invaluable.鈥� Public sector opportunities exist as well, 鈥渟uch as working at the FTC, the SEC, and a host of other government and non-profit options.鈥� Emory Law 鈥減rovides a very wide range of legal education.鈥� In addition to externship opportunities, there are 鈥渆xtracurricular activities such as Mock Trial, Moot Court, Journal, and diversity practice societies/organizations,鈥� all of which help foster 鈥渁 great [sense] of community among students.鈥� With the help of professors and Emory鈥檚 alumni network, one student confidently says, 鈥淚 feel like I am ready to wow potential employers both in formal interviews and informal networking occasions.鈥�
Despite a 鈥渟trong alumni network,鈥� students have few positive things to say about Emory Law鈥檚 career center, which 鈥渟eems to do the bare minimum鈥� and might be 鈥済reat when you鈥檙e a 1L and need resume advice but they don鈥檛 really help you find jobs.鈥� While one student calls the administration 鈥渁 near-constant bureaucratic frustration,鈥� others describe it as 鈥渁ccessible and friendly,鈥� noting that 鈥渢he school is very well run [and the] administration does a lot to cater to the students.鈥� Some students would like the school to devote more energy 鈥渉elping the students who are not in the top of the class realize that they still have great opportunities to find work,鈥� noting that 鈥渟ometimes the middle-of-the-road students feel like the opportunities for career [development] are less because the focus is not on mid-size and small firms.鈥� Facilities are 鈥渦p-to-date鈥� and 鈥渦p to par with competitive law schools,鈥� though one student regrets that the 鈥渓ibrary the law school is not open often enough,鈥� particularly on the weekends.

Students praise the 鈥渟trong sense of community鈥� at Emory Law and point to a top-notch faculty that 鈥渢end to be engaged with the law school community.鈥� One student, 鈥渁fter hearing experiences of my friends at other law schools,鈥� was 鈥渟o surprised how welcoming everyone was,鈥� underscoring that 鈥渢his was by far the aspect that has set Emory apart for me.鈥� With a plethora of student activities, from academic endeavors like the Student Bar Association to social events like the Harvest Moon Ball and the Barristers Ball, 鈥渢here is always something to look forward to鈥� at Emory. In general, the atmosphere at Emory Law is 鈥渨elcoming鈥� and students under score 鈥渢he friendliness of the faculty.鈥� As one transfer student says, although [Emory Law] was much more expensive, it was the best decision I鈥檝e ever made,鈥� citing the friendly atmosphere on campus and the fact that 鈥渢he school has so many clubs to cater to any interests.鈥� While there are a little over 800 students at the law school, Emory鈥檚 total enrollment is closer to 14,000, meaning that students can usually find something social to do on campus. Though one student describes fellow Emory Law students as 鈥減retty much rich and uptight,鈥� others praise the 鈥渄iversity of the student body.鈥�
