The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offers 鈥渁 great business school鈥 for 鈥渁nyone on a budget.鈥 One current student tells us, 鈥淚 chose UW-Whitewater for my MBA because of the school鈥檚 reputation, and they have the courses I want to be able to specialize in marketing.鈥 Adopting a two-pronged approach, UW-Whitewater offers students either a traditional in-class MBA or an online-only option, fullor part-time, both at 鈥渁n affordable price compared to other AACSB-accredited programs.鈥 The online program in particular was recently ranked in U.S. News & World Report as one the country鈥檚 top-twenty-five online MBA programs, and students can complete the program in one year with the proper prerequisites. Whatever one鈥檚 time commitment or location, there are 鈥渢wo types of grad students鈥 at UW-Whitewater: 鈥淭he MBA students and MPA (master 鈥檚 of accountancy) students,鈥 both of whom can now take advantage of Hyland Hall, the school鈥檚 new 鈥渟tate-of-the-art鈥 business building, which has 鈥渃hanged the school 100 percent鈥 for the better. What鈥檚 more, MBA or MPA students getting their degree online鈥攎any of whom have 鈥渘ever stepped foot on campus鈥濃攅njoy the convenience of things 鈥渓ike chat groups [that] are not live meetings.鈥 According to one online student who lives in Japan, 鈥淲hen you are doing an online degree many students are in different time zones and have difficulty making meetings.鈥 Another online student, a self-proclaimed 鈥渇ull-time career woman and mother鈥 shares with us that the online program 鈥渇its my lifestyle.鈥

While UW-Whitewater 鈥渋sn鈥檛 as famous as UW-Madison,鈥 the school does boast 鈥渙ne of the best accounting master 鈥檚 programs in the nation,鈥 and according to many a student, 鈥渨ell-experienced鈥 professors who are 鈥渁ccessible,鈥 鈥渉ave high credentials,鈥 and 鈥渕ake themselves readily available outside of the classroom.鈥 As one pleasantly surprised student puts it, 鈥淚 thought that a lot of my professors did not have real-world experience, but a majority of them have twenty plus years.鈥 鈥淗owever,鈥 one full-time student offers, 鈥渁 few should not be in the teaching career because of a lack of understanding.鈥

There is no typical graduate student at UW-Whitewater; it鈥檚 more of 鈥渁 mix of students who are older and seeking greater academic qualifications, as well as those students. . . starting an MBA right after undergraduate鈥 work. To add to this already diverse makeup, MBA students have a wide array of concentrations from which to choose, including finance, human resources management, international business, IT management, marketing, technology and training, and operations and supply chain management. Study-abroad programs are also available in France, Czech Republic, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, England, Switzerland, and Australia. The University also offers support services for international and minority students. 鈥淲hile I cannot say that UW-Whitewater is just as good as the expensive schools,鈥 one student tells us, 鈥淚 would recommend this school over and over again to anyone considering an MBA.鈥
