Academics

The University of Denver 鈥檚 Daniels College of Business is known for its 鈥済reat history,鈥 鈥渄edication to ethics鈥 and 鈥渙utstanding reputation for quality of education.鈥 It has a strong 鈥渃ommitment to Ethics, Sustainability, Globalization鈥 and 鈥淚nternational Business鈥 that 鈥渟ets it apart from other MBA programs.鈥 In addition, the small size of the program allows for 鈥渕ore intimate relationships between students and professors.鈥

The program is built to be flexible for both the Full-time and Part-time cohorts yet still 鈥渃onducted in a classroom setting鈥 rather than online. The 鈥減rofessors understand that they are teaching people with current and in some cases long-term business experience and the way they teach and interact with [students] reflects that.鈥 The 鈥渁dministrators have all had real jobs beyond just being in academia which makes a difference in how they interact with [students] as well as teach.鈥 The university uses a 鈥渃ohort system鈥 that allows the students to remain with the same group of classmates throughout the program. In so doing, MBAs are able 鈥渢o develop relationships with classmates over the one-and-a-half year lockstep program.鈥 The cohort system is 鈥淸r]un like a close-knit family.鈥 The 鈥淸c]ohort leader enrolls students in classes and keeps [them] informed of all upcoming events and career opportunities.鈥 This is especially helpful for busy, working professionals. And since 鈥渆veryone in the part-time program is working full-time,鈥 it 鈥減ositively impacts the cohort by keeping everyone focused on accomplishing tasks in a timely manner.鈥

鈥淢ost of the staff know us on a first name basis,鈥 one student notes, which is 鈥淸v]ery rewarding.鈥 鈥淭he professors are very outgoing and you can tell that they love what they teach. They make you want to succeed in the classroom.鈥 MBAs 鈥済et real world applicability and experience. No longer are the lessons out of a book, studying business theory. Lessons are from key business leaders in the community.鈥 鈥淭hey clearly have their eye on the future,鈥 one student notes. Professors are known for their 鈥渒een ability to teach as well as write academically. They also relate personably and are approachable outside of class.鈥 Professors are even 鈥渨illing to come in on weekends to hold study sessions and increase learning.鈥

The university 鈥渆ncourages group work and leadership training. MBAs take 鈥減ersonality tests at the beginning of the program鈥 to 鈥渉elp students to recognize their strengths and weaknesses.鈥 鈥淭here is one trip at the beginning of the course that allows classmates to bond鈥 and an 鈥渋nternational trip at the end of the program to allow for international business education.鈥 鈥淭hrough DU鈥檚 MBA program,鈥 one student notes, 鈥淚 was able to transform from a middle-of-the-road employee to an outstanding one with much more confidence and skills that are valuable to employers. This can all be attributed to the administration, professors, and my academic experience.鈥
