About

See what students say:

Santa Clara University鈥檚 Leavey School of Business has offered a well-respected physical MBA in the San Francisco Bay Area for decades, and according to students, their new online MBA program has come strongly out of the gate. There鈥檚 a quarterly online program that鈥檚 all about flexibility, on account of 鈥渂eing online without any set class schedules,鈥 and while the work remains rigorous and demanding, particularly for those already working jobs or raising families, enrollees boast of the time-management skills they鈥檝e picked up along the way, and stress that because you can 鈥渢ake as many classes as you鈥檙e willing to handle鈥 and that 鈥渆xtensions [on assignments are] typically 鈥 granted by professors upon request, so it鈥檚 fairly doable to maintain a work-life balance.鈥

Some students note that a few bugs are still being worked out in the rollout of the online MBA program, and that not all professors are as equally adept at utilizing the environment鈥檚 message boards and video lectures. There is, however, a 鈥渃lear roadmap to graduation and [professors] are very responsive to our inquiries about the program,鈥 with faculty proving to be 鈥渉elpful and available outside of normal class sessions鈥 as they 鈥渆ngage with the students on the discussion boards.鈥 Small hiccups aside, students themselves find SCU LSB鈥檚 technology and infrastructure to be 鈥渆xtremely intuitive and user-friendly.鈥 As one student puts it, 鈥淚 haven't had a problem accessing the portal or pages, submitting files, or with any interaction,鈥 although the majority of respondents referred explicitly to using web-based options as opposed to the school鈥檚 app. There鈥檚 also a wide variety of software provided for free, such as Camino, Canvas, Zoom, and Handshake.

There鈥檚 an initial 鈥渨ell-structured and thoughtfully designed鈥 orientation weekend that helps students get to know one another, and which not only provides 鈥渢he foundation of building the relationships needed to succeed on group assignments鈥 but also feels 鈥渟imilar to how the business world works today.鈥 Additionally, students have opportunities to take advantage of on-campus resources if they鈥檙e local to or are visiting the area, and they can take study abroad courses in locations like Vietnam. All students at all times also have access to the school鈥檚 strong alumni connections, to 鈥渃areer fairs, websites, and networking events,鈥 as well as to professors who are 鈥渒nowledgeable in the subjects they are teaching and incredibly responsive to questions and suggestions.鈥
