Academics

Talladega College is a renowned liberal arts college that also offers the benefit of flexible learning to its students, whether it鈥檚 the range of online courses that allow students to work on their own time, or a unique online-only Fast Track program that accelerates degree procurement in as little as 18 months. (Degrees offered include business management, criminal justice, psychology, and computer information systems.) The computer science department is a flagship of Talladega College, where students work with the latest technology and gain the most up-to-date techniques and knowledge that can help them secure highly prized jobs in the rapidly growing field of cyber security. To ensure these learning opportunities are as hands-on as possible, Talladega partners with leading technology information company Cisco as well as the premier trade association CompTia.

Talladega鈥檚 liberal arts education focuses on instruction in the humanities and fine arts, business administration, natural sciences, and mathematics, as well as the social sciences and education. The programs are so successful that the school reports 80% of graduates go on to pursue advanced degrees.

Student Body

Undergrads at Talladega speak very highly of their classmates. For starters, students readily assert that people are generally 鈥渙utgoing, well spoken, and fun.鈥 They also tend to be 鈥渧ery determined,鈥 鈥渇ocused,鈥 and 鈥渉ardworking.鈥 Indeed, students here are 鈥渟triving to become the leaders of tomorrow.鈥 Therefore, it鈥檚 not too surprising to hear that the vast majority are highly 鈥渋nvolved鈥 in campus life and activities as well. In turn, and perhaps inevitably, most everyone becomes imbued with great 鈥渟chool spirit.鈥 Of course, what Talladega undergrads value most is the fact that their peers are 鈥渧ery friendly and welcoming.鈥 As one student explains, 鈥淲e treat each other as a family, aiming to make sure each person succeeds.鈥 A classmate immediately concurs adding, 鈥淭alladega College makes you feel very welcome and loved; this is my favorite thing about my HBCU. Knowing that people here have your back through anything and support your every move is a great thing.鈥

Campus Life

Though hometown Talladega might feel a tad sleepy, life on campus is vibrant and full of excitement. And when students need a study break, there are many fun events in which they can participate. For example, the college frequently hosts 鈥渕ovie nights...parties, game nights, step shows and more.鈥 Athletics are fairly popular as well and 鈥渋f there鈥檚 a...game on campus鈥 you better believe these undergrads will be in attendance, cheering on their peers. Of course, there鈥檚 no need to fret if you鈥檙e not into sports. Music is also big at Talladega and numerous students are involved 鈥渋n the band.鈥 Additionally, there are plenty of clubs and 鈥渆xtracurricular activities鈥 to join. Undergrads at Talladega are quite adept at making their own fun, too. Indeed, students love to simply 鈥渉ang out around the residence halls...chat with each other, play games, cards, etc.鈥 And if anyone is itching to get off-campus for a little while, they can head to Birmingham which is within easy driving distance. Fortunately, most students don鈥檛 find that necessary because, at Talladega College, 鈥渓ife is great on a daily basis.鈥
