The picturesque campus of Alabama A & M University is conveniently positioned just four miles from downtown Huntsville, Alabama. The AAMU academic curriculum is organized into four colleges: Agriculture, Life and Natural Sciences; Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences; Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences; and Business and Public Affairs. AAMU鈥檚 motto is 鈥淪ervice is Sovereignty,鈥 and the culture emanated is that of power through knowledge. The Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development (OSALD) is a springboard to activities and events that bring the student body together and create opportunities to interact, develop skills, and enrich each student鈥檚 college experience. During 鈥淲elcome Week,鈥 first-year and returning students are introduced to the more than 50 clubs and organizations available on campus. The Student Government Association is the perfect complement to round out the portfolio of anyone interested in making an active contribution to the university student life experience. The school hosts numerous interactive social events throughout the year like Karaoke Night and Screen on the Green Movie Night鈥攇reat ways to meet and connect with peers and friends. AAMU prides itself on taking care of student wellbeing. To that end, there is the 78,000-square-foot Student Health & Wellness Center, which offers multiple ways to stay healthy with everything from boxing classes to aquatic lessons. The Health & Counseling Center provides integrative healthcare services and promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual development in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment.

Career Development Services has team members ready to assist students with developing all the skills necessary to succeed, from evaluating a job offer to clothing donations for that important interview. Many of the AAMU graduates choose careers that have a positive impact on their community: locally and globally. The extensive alumni network of AAMU includes politicians, doctors, scientists, Civil Rights leaders, and more. Notable alumni include Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin Mandela Barnes, National Football League Hall of Fame member John Stallworth, and entrepreneur and founder of EyeMail Inc., Lisa S. Jones. According to Payscale.com, AAMU graduates make an average base salary of $62,000 a year.
