Academics

Located in upstate Rochester, NY, Roberts Wesleyan College is a 鈥渄eeply religious鈥 private college that offers 鈥済ood teaching on theology,鈥 a 鈥渧ery positive environment,鈥 and 鈥渆ducation with a higher purpose.鈥 Through the building of faith and community, the college 鈥渟eeks to prepare thoughtful, spiritually mature, service-oriented people who will help transform society.鈥 鈥淭his is a place that we are trying to find out what God's purpose is for our lives, with the help of peers and professors we will find it,鈥 says a senior. Professors are 鈥渁ll very kind and caring, and genuinely invested in their students,鈥 and 鈥渦nderstand their audience and [so] try to teach to the strengths of the class.鈥 They 鈥渕ake sure that we understand what we're doing before we move onto another topic, and if not, they take us aside and try to explain the concept to us so that we will understand.鈥 All of the professors 鈥渓et you think for yourselves without cramming their opinions down your throat鈥 and 鈥渟eek to help each student learn in the best way for them personally.鈥 All of the faculty will 鈥済o out of their way to help you in education and life, to prepare you for your career.鈥濃 I have yet to have a professor who I could not talk to about anything!鈥 says a student. This applause falls on every aspect of RWC, where 鈥渇rom the janitor that cleans the guy's dormitory to the dean of students, staff and faculty are there to help and listen.鈥 Though the science labs on campus 鈥渢end to need a little updating,鈥 the education and nursing programs here have especially 鈥渆xcellent鈥 reputations.

Student Body

Students all typically come from a religious Christian background (鈥渟ome more so than others鈥), and most everyone here is 鈥渧ery faith and education oriented.鈥 Perhaps due to these similar backgrounds, 鈥渆veryone fits in very well here鈥 and a lot of times 鈥渦pperclassmen go out of their way to greet the underclassmen and make them feel at home here.鈥 鈥淭here is no need to feel anxious because everyone is very friendly,鈥 says a student. Several students at Roberts come from a homeschooling experience.

Campus Life

Roberts is 鈥渁 place filled with love,鈥 so students revel in their lives in 鈥渁 judgment free zone.鈥 鈥淭he fact that you can openly talk about God to anyone鈥 is a huge perquisite to RWC life, where 鈥測ou become like family with your suitemates almost right away.鈥 The Roberts 鈥渂ubble鈥 is 鈥渁 place where you don鈥檛 have to worry about crime or immoral acts,鈥 though you do have to worry about internet connection (the 鈥渨i-fi is very weak everywhere鈥) and the food services, which could use 鈥渋mmense improvements.鈥 People all over the school 鈥渁re involved in something, whether it be one of our many clubs, sports, intramurals, or the student government.鈥 On the non-school sponsored front, 鈥渨e have movie nights, hang out and talk, walk to the coffee house nearby, have birthday parties, go to club events, photo-shoots, and drive to events in the city,鈥 which is about fifteen minutes away. Frisbee is also 鈥渁 huge thing鈥 at Roberts, and 鈥渁nytime you walk outside someone is throwing around a Frisbee.鈥 Students often use college sponsored events and activities 鈥渁s a framework for social life鈥 and 鈥渟pend a lot of time in the library鈥 which is 鈥渢he social hang-out on campus.鈥
