Academics
Adelphi University offers those seeking a high value private school a 鈥渇riendly and comfortable place to learn and grow.鈥 Attendees describe their scholastic experience as 鈥渃hallenging and interesting,鈥 and find resources like 鈥済reat academic advising鈥 and small class sizes to be highlights of the school. It helps that those professors are also 鈥渆asily accessible in office hours and by appointment.鈥 Plus, they 鈥渂ring real world discussions into the classroom,鈥 keeping 鈥渟tudents 鈥 actively engaged.鈥 A few attendees report their experience with faculty to be 鈥渉it or miss,鈥 but the majority are 鈥渜uite likable and enthusiastic.鈥 As far as majors go, out of the sixty options for undergrads, nursing students are especially proud of their program, which features innovative simulation labs and clinical work. Nursing faculty do an 鈥渁mazing job preparing students for their futures鈥 and 鈥渕ake you work, but it is worth it.鈥

Adelphi undergrads describe their campus as 鈥渇riendly, down to earth,鈥 and 鈥渨elcoming to newcomers.鈥 Enrollees hail 鈥渕ainly from Queens and Long Island,鈥 but makes room for a 鈥渓arge population of international students.鈥 That diversity of the student body, added to the great number of campus organizations, provides 鈥渕any opportunities to meet people different from yourself.鈥 So, even if solely for socializing purposes, 鈥渢here is a healthy variety of people 鈥 for anyone to find a group of friends鈥 as the 鈥減eople here are very inclusive.鈥 As one student recalls, 鈥淚 was scared to come to a new school but just by the first day I met so many nice people.鈥 With a simultaneously 鈥渧ery career driven鈥 and 鈥渧ery social and well-rounded鈥 group, you鈥檒l find a student body aiming to 鈥減ush one another for positive growth鈥 at Adelphi.
Campus Life
Although most students are 鈥渄edicated to their education鈥 they remember to 鈥渢ake time to enjoy themselves.鈥 Adelphi is 鈥渓argely a commuter school,鈥 but it still manages to foster a 鈥渟ense of community.鈥 The beautiful college is 鈥渆asy to get around鈥 and boasts many places to 鈥渆njoy the view and hang out with friends.鈥 While some say the school could use 鈥渕ore food options, better parking,鈥 and updated dorms, they are satisfied with the number of opportunities available to them. Extracurricular options help to bring students together, whether that鈥檚 joining the Division II Adelphi Panthers, intramural sports teams, study group, or fundraisers. The school also boasts a 鈥済reat and inclusive鈥 Greek life, as well as a plethora of student clubs that showcase 鈥渄ifferent interests, majors, religions, cultures, ethnicities, and political views鈥 and 鈥渂ring out the diversity on campus.鈥 And when students want to leave the scenic campus for anything from professional networking to nightlife, they can catch the train to New York City, just twenty-three miles away.
