Cal State San Bernardino鈥檚 motto is 鈥淐ome here, go anywhere鈥 and undergrads certainly feel that sentiment rings true. The university provides a 鈥済reat education鈥 that allows students to 鈥渄iscover amazing things about [themselves].鈥 CSUSB offers a substantial number of majors and students鈥 heap praise on the 鈥渨ell recognized business program鈥 as well as the 鈥渢remendous鈥 criminal justice program and 鈥済reat鈥 nursing school. Professors at CSUSB receive high marks. 鈥淧assionate鈥 and 鈥渒nowledgeable,鈥 teachers here strive to 鈥渕ake sure the material is understood.鈥 Students are also grateful for 鈥渢he enthusiasm they bring to every lecture.鈥 A junior illustrates by sharing, 鈥淢y professors bring a sense of humor to the classroom, which allows them to be a lot more approachable. They allow me to have fun while I am learning.鈥 And it鈥檚 certainly evident that 鈥減rofessors want you to do well, and provide resources for students to make it happen.鈥 As a math major explains, 鈥淲hen a questions arises, they are always willing to explain it thoroughly, so that all students understand.鈥 And one ecstatic freshman concludes, 鈥淪o far my academic experience is far beyond what I had anticipated. It is more than great; it鈥檚 amazing.鈥
Student Body
Across the board, undergrads at CSUSB insist that 鈥渢here are no typical students鈥 here. As one psych major explains, 鈥淲e have great diversity which provides a great mixture of beliefs and ideas. There [are] young and old students, local and international students, and this allows people to share their different points of view and everyone can bring something to the table.鈥 Generally, students find their peers to be 鈥渧ery laid-back鈥 and 鈥渙pen minded.鈥 鈥淔riendly鈥 is another adjective that often springs to mind. As one math major notes, 鈥淲hen a student is struggling, it is not uncommon to find someone willing to help you.鈥 And a nutrition major agrees adding, 鈥淚 was lost as I was looking for my class and a pair of students noticed and helped me鈥 did not even [have to] ask.鈥 Perhaps this content freshman says it best, 鈥淎s I see it everyone fits in with everyone. No matter if your religious or non-religious, skater or punker, and right-wing or left-wing. We鈥檙e all here for a common goal, to be successful, and that's what brings us together.鈥
Campus Life
Cal State San Bernardino has a large commuter population hence many students simply 鈥渄o [their] own thing.鈥 And while some undergrads lament that 鈥渢here's not much in terms of fun activities here,鈥 others insist that life is a blast 鈥渁s long as you get involved in groups/clubs.鈥 As one senior interjects, 鈥淕reek life is a big deal, always active.鈥 Many students also herald the Rec Center which offers 鈥渁 large gym, climbing wall [and] basketball courts.鈥 Undergrads also flock to the Student Union which is home to the Gaming Center and the Pub, both popular hangout spots. There are a myriad of events such as 鈥渃ard making in the Women鈥檚 Center鈥 and 鈥渕ovie night at the library.鈥 Additionally, 鈥渢he theater/music departments are always putting on a performance.鈥 Students also appreciate that 鈥渢he fitness center offers low cost trips to many places in California to give students the opportunity to camp, hike, go horseback riding, and even snorkeling.鈥 Further, undergrads 鈥渁lso get discounted tickets to movie theaters, theme parks and other fun places in the area.鈥
