Academics

The Jenkins MBA at NC State University鈥檚 Poole College of Management places a large emphasis on skills that will tie directly into the strengths of the region. With its main campus located in the state capital of Raleigh and a satellite location in Research Triangle Park, 鈥渁 focus on technology and innovation鈥 with 鈥渁 strong emphasis on hands-on experiences.鈥 For future-oriented students, the 鈥渆mphasis on real world projects and technology focus in many classes鈥 makes NC State 鈥渙ne of the best values for a full-time MBA in the country.鈥 This 鈥渆mphasis on real world, hands-on learning differentiates it from the other programs in the area,鈥 especially the 鈥渇ocus on technology and innovation.鈥 Indeed, one student notes, 鈥淭his is a program for people who want to lead teams and stay on the cutting edge of technology.鈥Though high achievement is expected, cutthroat academics are not. Here the 鈥渁tmosphere is congenial but focused,鈥 and 鈥渢eamwork is highly emphasized.鈥 Because most classes take place in the same building, 鈥渢here is a great deal of interaction with other students.鈥 Students who are 鈥渇ocused on career success and money鈥 may be disappointed that 鈥渢hat is not the case at NC State,鈥 but others will be pleased to find that educators here 鈥渃are a lot about sustainability鈥 and showcasing how business fits into the larger world. School administration shows 鈥渁n almost fanatical focus on improvement and a willingness to experiment.鈥 The result is that despite its relative newness, 鈥渟ome elements of the program are already receiving national attention (Supply Chain, the Entrepreneurship Program) and some will soon (the Consumer Behavior initiative).鈥
