The flag of the ALAND ISLANDS is the regional flag of the ALAND Islands inhabited by Swedish-speaking minorities 

on the west coast of Finland. The design is in the background of the Swedish flag, 

with a red cross symbolizing Finland. Although the Finnish flag is a blue cross with white background,

 red and yellow are the colours of the Finnish national emblem.

In 1954, the Oran Islands Autonomous Region officially designated this flag as a regional flag. 

On April 3, 1954, it was first raised. The former flag used by the Autonomous Region was a 

yellow-blue tricolor flag.
