Tiny, Catholic King鈥檚 College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania offers small class sizes, 鈥渉ands-on laboratory work,鈥 an 鈥淗onors program core that revolves around discussion,鈥 and 鈥渕any helpful places on campus for individuals in need of any type of assistance.鈥 Everyone at King鈥檚 鈥渋s helpful and mindful with any problems that a student is facing,鈥 and students rave about 鈥渉ow committed staff is to one-on-one assistance and learning opportunities.鈥 The physician assistant, nursing, and engineering programs are standouts, but almost all majors boast a high job placement rate and plenty of notable alumni; King鈥檚 has a great career planning department, 鈥渆specially for accounting majors.鈥 The school has 鈥渟o many recruiters coming onto campus to interview for internships or full-time positions,鈥 with a goal for students 鈥渢o have a full-time offer before starting [their] senior year.鈥

Professors are 鈥渙utstanding,鈥 鈥渢ypically resourceful,鈥 relate material to 鈥渉ow the real world works,鈥 and 鈥渁re always making sure the students know about their office hours.鈥 They teach 鈥渉ow to think beyond the information that is laid out in the textbook,鈥 鈥渁re down to earth and like what they do,鈥 and 鈥渁re active in seeking out students who need help.鈥 Classes are structured with a 鈥渇lexibility that gets you ready for the professional world,鈥 and some classes are service-based and have students 鈥済o out into the community and help them instead of just learning about it in class.鈥

Student Body

At King鈥檚, students 鈥渙verall care about their academics and putting happiness before everything.鈥 Every student 鈥渟eems committed to studies and doing the best that they possibly can.鈥 The Catholic mission is apparent, and everyone here is 鈥渁ccepting and welcoming to fellow students who come from diverse, multicultural, and differing backgrounds.鈥 Many students here are commuters, so the library acts as a de facto hangout spot, as does the campus game room (which has pool and table tennis), but fear not: 鈥淭here are many commuters that participate in after-school activities and are very involved in multiple clubs on campus.鈥 At King鈥檚, 鈥減eople have their close friends groups,鈥 which 鈥渦sually come from sharing the same sports or the same major.鈥

Campus Life

The King鈥檚 College atmosphere is apparent from the moment you set foot at the school: everyone is 鈥渟o welcoming and friendly,鈥 and it makes the college 鈥渇eel like a home away from home.鈥 Students say the campus, located 鈥渋n a nice part of Wilkes-Barre,鈥 gives people 鈥渢he city feel they want鈥 while still being in close proximity to 鈥渆ndless hiking trails and lakes.鈥 King鈥檚 is a fairly small school 鈥渟o it is easy to make friends the first few days,鈥 and most days are filled with 鈥済oing to get food with friends, work, classes, homework, and then extra activities.鈥 鈥淲eekend activities are slim to none,鈥 so students usually just visit friends. 鈥淚t can get boring at times on campus so we go off campus to find stuff to do,鈥 admits a student. Typically after class, most people 鈥渉ave either practice or work, then dinner, then a good amount of students will spend time studying/doing homework for the remainder of the night.鈥
