Carson-Newman is a 鈥渟mall鈥 university that promotes 鈥淐hristian values鈥 and provides a strong sense of 鈥渃ommunity.鈥 Students find the school鈥檚 size highly advantageous noting that, 鈥渦nlike a huge state school, where you鈥檙e just a number, Carson-Newman makes you feel like each student matters and belongs.鈥 Undergrads here also benefit from a 鈥渓iberal arts program鈥 that guarantees everyone receives a 鈥渨ell-rounded education鈥. Though there are a 鈥渞ange鈥 of fantastic majors, many rush to highlight the university鈥檚 鈥済reat nursing program.鈥 High praise is also given to the Carson-Newman faculty who really 鈥渃hallenge you and make sure you鈥檙e learning.鈥 As one undergrad gushes, 鈥淭hey push you to stretch your mind and thought process beyond what you have before.鈥 In turn, this creates 鈥済raduates who are prepared for roles in leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation.鈥 For the most part, Carson-Newman professors also have an uncanny ability to teach in 鈥渆ngaging,鈥 鈥渇un,鈥 and 鈥渦nique鈥 ways. They excel at fostering 鈥渄iscussion...and critical thinking.鈥 More importantly, 鈥渢hey are all experts in their field.鈥 And professors here make it clear that they are not at the university simply 鈥淸to earn] a paycheck.鈥 They 鈥済enuinely care about their students鈥 success鈥 and frequently become their 鈥渂iggest cheerleaders.鈥

Student Body

Undergrads at Carson-Newman are quick to brag that their peers are 鈥渆xtremely nice and supportive.鈥 Indeed, wander around the campus for a bit and you鈥檒l soon discover that 鈥減eople...take the time to say hello and ask how you are doing even if they don鈥檛 know you.鈥 Even better, students here are 鈥渁lways willing to lend a helping hand.鈥 They also 鈥渕otivate each other to do well in class and get involved in campus activities.鈥 Additionally, undergrads happily report that there鈥檚 鈥渁 surprisingly diverse student body.鈥 The university manages to net undergrads 鈥渇rom all over the world.鈥 And 鈥渁lthough it is a Christian college, people here [come from] so many different religions and political beliefs.鈥 We鈥檒l give the last word to this rather content student who shares that 鈥淐arson-Newman is a place where you will know no strangers. This place is more than a university, it is a home with your CN family.鈥

Campus Life

Rest assured 鈥渢here is always something to do鈥 at Carson-Newman. For starters, athletic events are well attended as undergrads love 鈥渢o cheer on [their] teams.鈥 Additionally, 鈥渢here are a plethora of extracurricular activities that are offered on campus.鈥 The university also sponsors numerous events such as 鈥渕ud volleyball, cornhole...corn maze[s]...laser tag and more.鈥 鈥淢ovie nights鈥 are extremely popular as well. A large percentage of undergrads participate in 鈥渃ommunity service and work around the community鈥 too. Many people can also be found hanging at the Student Activities Center where they can do things like 鈥渟wim and play pool.鈥 And plenty of undergrads gravitate to 鈥淗ammock City.鈥 As the name implies, it鈥檚 a beautiful spot on campus where people can 鈥渉ang up hammocks and relax.鈥 In general, students also like to 鈥渟pend their free time outside!鈥 That鈥檚 quite understandable considering that 鈥淭ennessee has some great hiking trails, mountains, parks, and dams to explore.鈥 Finally, when they are aching for a more urban environment, undergrads here can 鈥済et away鈥 to nearby Knoxville for some big city excitement.
