Academics

Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio provides a top-notch liberal arts education with a rich and active campus life. Students speak highly specifically of the business, neuroscience, education, and English programs, but add that the teaching quality 鈥渙verall across disciplines [is] amazing.鈥 Professors are focused on 鈥渟eeing students succeed.鈥 They鈥檙e tough, but not unfairly so: 鈥渢hey do not handhold,鈥 but they do make themselves 鈥渆asy to meet with outside of class,鈥 and 鈥渢hey aren鈥檛 there to watch you fail.鈥 Professors also remain 鈥渄edicated to their craft,鈥 utilizing hands-on learning for many of their courses. (Two examples are market research projects through the school鈥檚 Center for Innovation and Growth and performing in many different music ensembles鈥攖he school has an 鈥渆xceptional music program.鈥) Matching that on-campus variety are plentiful off-campus opportunities, as BW has 鈥済reat placement [in] Cleveland and other surrounding areas for job and internships.鈥 As one pleased student sums it up, saying, 鈥淚 believe that, thanks to my education at Baldwin Wallace, I am ready to join the workforce.鈥

Student Body

At BW, those who are 鈥減assionate and driven in their fields鈥 come together to form an 鈥渋ncredibly inclusive, caring, and compassionate鈥 community. Students are 鈥渙verwhelmingly talented and鈥攂efore anything else鈥攕upportive.鈥 There鈥檚 a broad consensus that almost everyone 鈥渋ntermingles and is involved in numerous activities,鈥 forming 鈥渙ne connected student body.鈥 BW attracts many 鈥渃ommuters ranging from eighteen to forty years old,鈥 but some admit that 鈥渞acial diversity could be better.鈥 Still, that student body represents 鈥渁 wide array of personalities 鈥 and interests,鈥 with some of the most common including athletics, Greek life, or music and dance. Regardless of where a student鈥檚 interests fall, though, 鈥減eople seem to be authentic and don't try to hide who they really are.鈥

Campus Life

Students at BW 鈥渢ake their academics seriously but enjoy having fun whenever there is time.鈥 And the list of ways they can spend that time is long: with over 100 clubs and organizations at the school, 鈥淚t seems like the possibilities are endless.鈥 Among those options, the 鈥渢hree big things to be involved in鈥 are Greek life, athletics, and the music conservatory, which offers almost 鈥渃onstant performances.鈥 BW is a commuter school, so outside of official campus-wide activities, the residential party scene is 鈥渢ypically pretty tame 鈥 with only a couple [of] house parties every weekend.鈥 However, because BW is nestled into a suburb of Cleveland, students aren鈥檛 restricted to what the campus has to offer. For instance, 鈥渢here is lots of great food within walking distance,鈥 or to put it another way, the school has 鈥渁 small-town feel 鈥 with big city benefits.鈥
