Located in the micropolitan Ohio city of Findlay, University of Findlay is a small Christian college with just 2,600 students but an impressive eighty-plus majors, including notable programs in equestrian studies and health professions. 鈥淣ot many colleges can simultaneously create future doctors and professional horse trainers,鈥 says a student. The school鈥檚 focus on experiential learning and an education grounded in Christian values incorporate 鈥渋nteractive labs,鈥 鈥渢errific study abroad programs,鈥 and 鈥渓ectures that invite you to speak your mind.鈥 Class assignments 鈥渁llow critical thinking outside of papers and tests,鈥 and the school has three barns for pre-vet students to practice, as well as a school health clinic that 鈥渁lways has a few nursing or PT students shadowing the nurses.鈥

The faculty here 鈥渉ave incredible experience in their field鈥 and are 鈥渨illing to help you inside and outside the classroom to grow to your full potential.鈥 Many 鈥済o out of their way to help students get into graduate programs and full-time jobs.鈥 鈥淵ou can walk into their offices at any time with any problem,鈥 and 鈥渢he majority of them bond with their students to really improve their experience and ability to understand the information given to them.鈥 The small classes tend to follow 鈥渕ore of a discussion base versus a lecture base,鈥 which creates a 鈥渇un and exciting environment鈥 that allows students to get their ideas out in the open 鈥渁ll the while actually learning.鈥

Student Body

This group is very close: 鈥淓veryone knows everyone and it is like a great big family on campus.鈥 While most are from Ohio, there is a large international contingent, and with the wide range of programs a variety of people are drawn to Findlay鈥攊t鈥檚 not unusual for students 鈥渢o sit in a class filled with barn kids, future physical therapists, veterinarians, and educators.鈥 The school is 鈥渁 culture all its own,鈥 and a meeting place where someone who grew up in a small town on a farm 鈥渃an be best friends with someone who grew up in the cities of New Jersey and has never seen a pig in person.鈥 There is harmony among all groups, and students encourage each other via 鈥減eer-to-peer tutoring and other services on campus,鈥 as well as student organizations. Everyone at the University of Findlay is interested in the goals of others, and school 鈥渋s never a competition, but instead a support system.鈥

Campus Life

The 鈥渁bsolutely beautiful鈥 350-acre campus always has events happening (with free food and shirts!) in the residence halls or through the various campus clubs, including 鈥渓ive music on campus, community service projects, bingo, club sports, and a variety of intramural leagues.鈥 鈥淎 lot of people leave campus on the weekends,鈥 but there鈥檚 鈥減lenty of things to do downtown鈥 and students will often go out to 鈥渓ocal restaurants鈥 and other places where they can use their 鈥渂onus bucks.鈥 The university gives out tickets to the local movie theater once a month, and bowling is quite a popular hobby. The campus farm is a popular place to visit, and 鈥渢here is a lot of fitness promotion on campus,鈥 so recreational exercise is a big pastime. Many students are employed on campus, and a lot of students are 鈥渁thletes that have obligations to their athletics practices and games.鈥
