Academics
Manchester University offers students prestigious programs and dedicated faculty in a private liberal arts college that works hard to 鈥渕ake every learning experience meaningful and interesting.鈥 Here, the nursing, business, pharmacy, and education programs get rave reviews, as do the study abroad opportunities. But 鈥渢he hallmark of Manchester鈥 are the professors, who are 鈥渁bsolutely fantastic鈥 and 鈥渧ery supportive [in order to] make learning as easy as possible.鈥 At MU, the professors 鈥渁re basically your parent away from home,鈥 helping you to 鈥渙vercome any problem鈥 and truly striving to get to know each and every student: 鈥淢ost of the time you can just waltz into [their] office and meet them,鈥 one attendee shares. While some note that the teaching style is lecture-heavy, others comment that 鈥渢he small classroom sizes make it feel easier to focus and participate in class.鈥 They also share that there is plenty of hands-on learning that takes place outside of the traditional learning styles, citing field trips, simulations, and even 鈥渢aking turns teaching a subject to the class.鈥 Overall, 鈥淵ou are not a number at Manchester, you鈥檙e a person with a name and a goal.鈥
Student Body
Generally, undergrads at Manchester are 鈥渞eserved and focused on their studies,鈥 but fortunately they represent 鈥渁 good, interesting mix鈥 of students who 鈥渨ant everyone to succeed.鈥 With its smaller campus, 鈥渁ll students really get a chance to make long-lasting friendships鈥 with other 鈥渇un, energetic, and caring鈥 people who are 鈥渆ager to help鈥 each other. First years in particular find it 鈥渆xtremely easy to make new friends鈥 as older students 鈥渁re always looking out for them.鈥 But regardless of year, the community is 鈥渁n exceptional and diverse group of 鈥 individuals intent on making college a great experience.鈥 As one shares, 鈥淲e are all working towards the same goal 鈥 and I think that helps us work together.鈥 Another grateful undergrad says, 鈥淐oming here from a small close-minded community changed my view of the world.鈥
Campus Life
There may be a lot of homework at MU, but 鈥淭here鈥檚 always opportunity 鈥 to come out and enjoy college life outside academics.鈥 For starters, students enjoy the 鈥渂eautiful natural surroundings,鈥 which mix 鈥渓ots of greenery [with] a calm, peaceful atmosphere.鈥 So, in good weather, 鈥減eople play outdoors or enjoy the sunlight by sitting in hammocks.鈥 Even when stuck inside, each resident hall is well-equipped with ways to pass the time, including pool tables, basketball hoops, or table tennis. There are also 鈥渃ampus events with free food鈥 for anyone interested. While some students express concerns that there isn鈥檛 enough to do in the neighboring town, others comment that there are a few options鈥攁 movie theater and a mall are two most commonly noted鈥攖o enjoy 鈥渙n a weekly or monthly basis.鈥 But regardless of where they find their entertainment, students are quick to point out that the school provides a 鈥渉ome-like feeling鈥 in 鈥渟uch a small town.鈥
